You invested in something beautiful and BIG, and we want it to burn as perfectly as it looks. A little candle knowledge goes a long way. Follow these four steps and your Big Ass Candle will reward you with hours of clean, even, luxurious burn every single time.
Step 1: Trim your wick every single time
Before each burn, trim your wicks ¼ inch. Every time. No exceptions. Trimming your wicks before each burn keeps the flame controlled, the soot minimal, and your candle burning longer. A long wick is the fastest way to burn through something this good too quickly.
Step 2: Light it with your Long Ass Lighter.

Your Long Ass Lighter was made for exactly this moment. Reach down into the vessel, light the wick, and never burn a fingertip again. Luxury is in the details.
Step 3: Burn for 5+ Hours
This is the most important step, especially on your first burn. Let your candle stay lit until the melted wax reaches all the way to the edge of the vessel. This is called a full melt pool, and it's non-negotiable.
Because our candles are made with all-natural wax, they can look and settle a little differently from batch to batch, and that's the beauty of handmade. But here's the thing, wax has memory. If you extinguish before the melt pool reaches the edge, the wax remembers that ring and will tunnel straight down the center on every burn after, leaving walls of unused wax and a much shorter candle life. Give it the full burn. Your candle will thank you.
Step 4: Extinguish the flame
When it's time to call it a night, reach for a candle snuffer or wick dipper instead of blowing it out. You'll keep smoke out of the air, protect your vessel, and the wick dipper will coat the wick in wax so your next light is effortless.
Now light it up, kick back, and don't forget to tag us @bigassluxuries, we want to properly obsess over your setup!
